Damian, our Wānaka Enviroschools Facilitator had a wonderful day at Te Kura O Take Kārara as the school reflected at Enviroschools Bronze level.

Te Kura O Take Kārara students led the exploration into how they incorporate Enviroschools five Guiding Principles – Ngā Mātāpono in their learning: Empowered Learners, Learning for Sustainability, Te Ao Māori, Respect for Diversity and Sustainable Communities.

Highlights included the community pantry, fundraising from selling honey from their hive and chutney from their garden, vibrant veggie gardens and fruit trees, native plantings, and fantastic play spaces at the school.

Kudos to the school for transforming into a thriving ecosystem.

Exciting next steps planned, including getting chickens, a mud kitchen, expanding the bike track, and maximising the mara kai. Well done to all involved, especially those who’ve championed the Enviroschools vision from the start!
