Any household recycling materials that you drop off to us (glass, plastic, cans, cardboard and paper) will be hand-sorted to make sure it is a clean stream of recycling.
As we are not funded by the council to recycle, there is a small charge when you drop off household recycling to cover costs – just $2 per 60 litre crate (the normal recycling bin size).
We can recycle all the standard household recycling:
- Plastics (1-7, not PLA as marked by the flower logo or PLA stamp on the bottom)
- Steel cans
- Aluminium cans
You can also recycle many other items with us, such as many appliances, electronic waste and clean polystyrene. Charges apply to some items to cover the cost of sorting, handling and transporting the recycling. You can see the full list of what we recycle here.
Our opening hours are 9am-5pm, seven days a week, for both recycling and reuse shopping. If you’re leaving Wanaka late at night or early in the morning, we have an after-hours recycling drop-off at the front gate where you can post your recycling.
Wastebusters does not do the kerbside recycling collections in Wanaka or Alex. If you have any questions about kerbside recycling, please call:
