Waste invaders

Our faithful old kerbside recycling trailer has been transformed into a mobile events trailer AKA the “Recycling Drop Zone”. Thanks to a grant from Keep New Zealand Beautiful, the trailer has had a total makeover and is now ready to rumble, much to the interest of local event managers.

Organisers of two big upcoming Wanaka events are looking forward to having the trailer in action at their events. Sally Norman, Recycling Manager, Rippon Festival has already booked the trailer for Waitangi weekend 2014. “The crew are super excited to test-run Wastebusters’ spanky new trailer at Rippon Festival next February; we see it being a total asset in helping us achieve our lowest waste target ever…” said Ms Norman.Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow is also looking forward to having the Recycling Drop Zone on site next Easter. “We love the way Wastebusters thought to put a recycling symbol on the top of the trailer so it is visible from the air as well as the ground”, Mandy Deans, Warbirds Event Manager said when she saw the trailer.

To book the trailer for your event contact Bis on recycle@wanakawastebusters.co.nz or 03 443 8606 (ext 5)

The “Recycling Drop Zone” can be deployed at short notice for all types of events in the region. Wastebusters hopes that the retro ‘waste invaders’ theme will encourage young and old to drop their empty drinks containers and other recycling into the right slot. There’s even a can crusher attached to the side for serious waste invaders.“

The Recycling Drop Zone is a welcome addition to our events recycling kit. It will be great to have a large scale, portable recycling system that is ready to go and easy to set up on site. It will certainly make our job a lot easier” says Jeremy Bisson, Recycling and Events Manager for Wastebusters.

The mobile trailer can be set up anywhere and will be available for hire from Wanaka Wastebusters. It could be the ideal solution for film shoots in remote locations, events like the Motatapu race or any organisation wanting to stop waste invading our beautiful countryside. It will really help keep New Zealand beautiful.

Wanaka Wastebusters appreciates the commitment shown by the Keep New Zealand Beautiful, Coca-Cola Foundation Beverage Container Recycling Community Grants programme to zero waste events recycling.
