It’s a big AGM this year, with an important proposal to change our structure to be voted on by members. Do you like the idea of an appointed trust or would you rather keep a membership base? Wastebusters needs your input and your vote (if you’re a member). Come to the AGM 7pm, Wed 14th Nov at Lake Wanaka Centre. Click here for agenda
The executive committee is proposing that Wastebusters becomes a Limited Liability Company because it offers more legal protection when you are dealing with large sums of money.
Here’s how the proposed structure would work. Wanaka Wastebusters Ltd would be owned by the Upper Clutha community, through a community trust. No dividends would be paid.
The new community trust, called Wanaka Wastebusters Trust, would be made up of nominees from the Wanaka Community Board, Wanaka Residents Assn, Hawea Community Assn, Wanaka Chamber of Commerce. Up to two additional trustees can be co-opted by the other trustees.
The Wanaka Wastebusters Trust would appoint directors of Wanaka Wastebusters Ltd.
This would replace the current member-based structure, under which the members elect the executive committee to oversee the direction of Wanaka Wastebusters.

The proposal will be voted on by members at the AGM on Wed 14th Nov at 7pm, at the Lake Wanaka Centre.
