The Wanaka Wastebusters AGM will be held at the Cinema Paradiso at 7pm on Tuesday 29 November.

The 2011 AGM is likely to draw a bigger crowd than usual, given the controversial decision to award the Wanaka recycling contracts to an Auckland company.

Many people in the community have asked how the decision will affect Wastebusters. Manager Sue Coutts will discuss both the current financial position of the society and options for the future.

Wastebusters is currently in limbo, awaiting confirmation by full council of the Wanaka Community board’s recommendation to grant the society a 35 year lease for the recycling centre site. The land belongs to council and the buildings and improvements belong to Wastebusters.

Several nominations have been received for potential executive members. At least three places are available on the executive committee for 2012 as both Ross McRobie (current Chair) and Victoria Murray Orr are standing down this year.

Both members and non-members are welcome to attend.

Wanaka Wastebusters is the trading name of the Upper Clutha Recycling and Environmental Society incorporated.
