Today at Wastebusters has been “hug a Matt” day with spontaneous hugs of the staff in the front yard going off the charts.

It has been almost three days since the huge turn out of support for Wastebusters and Cinema Paradiso in the Wanakafest parade, and we are still buzzing: not only with the words of encouragement, but the large number of people who felt strongly enough to march through town in our colours orange and black. AND we won the World Cup!

What started out a sad and shocking week with the announcement of the contract loss has turned upbeat as the Wanaka community has made it clear that they want us, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to keep us. Thousands of individuals have made it clear where they stand and numerous local businesses, groups and institutions.

Everybody here at Wastebusters would like to give a huge thanks to everybody who painted signs, made flags, dressed up, marched and signed our declaration of no confidence in the decision.
