Spring is Dr Compost’s favourite season, and to celebrate, he’s running free composting and gardening workshops through October and November (thanks to funding from Queenstown Lakes District Council).
Dr Compost will be running three workshops in Wanaka and three in Queenstown. No need to book, just turn up on the day.
Get a prescription for rich black compost that you can make at home and find out how to grow your own fresh, nutritious food in a healthy garden.
The Dr’s composting workshops cover four different systems: hot composting, bokashi buckets, worm-farms and Greencones. They cover composting for the beginner through expert.
“Many people are nervous about starting a compost heap, either because they think it’s too technical or because they’ve had a bad experience with a smelly heap.”
“But composting doesn’t have to be like that. After a morning at one of my workshops, people will know how to build a compost heap that’s guaranteed to heat up properly and decompose within a few months. The end product is a beautiful, rich-smelling dark compost, the ultimate food for your garden.”
Dr Compost says many households find that bokashi suits them perfectly because it’s a more contained system which requires very little time to maintain.
